Bell Tower

Last Monday we all needed to get out of the house so Mike decided we should go up to the BYU Bell Tower and let Sadie feed the ducks and swim. It was a great idea! Mom and Carlie sat in the shade and relaxed while Dad and Sadie fed the ducks and played in the water. I believe that Sadie could spend a whole day there if we let her.....she had a blast. The best part is that she was worn out and ready for bed by the time we left.

This one was taken as we were getting ready to leave and had her wet clothes off.
Feeding the ducks!
This little duck got very daring and came close.

Carlie Mae King

Natalie and I finally decided that our new baby girls name will be Carlie Mae King. After much thought and recommendations from family and friends....well....it just seem to have a nice ring to it. Sadie met her lil sis for the first time this afternoon and shared kisses and hugs with her to welcome her to the family. Pictures coming soon.

Newest Edition to the King Family

Our new little baby girl was born today, July 22, 2009 at 3:09am. She weighed in at 7.9 lbs and was 19" long.

This delivery went MUCH faster than Sadie's which took 26 hours of labor before she decided to show up. Although it was much quicker it was much more painful with respect to labor pains. I was pretty sure Nat was going to tear the guard rails off the bed and start flinging them around. Natalie started with labor pains at around 7pm yesterday. Natalie decided to egg on the labor by washing the outside of the windows to the house and then vacuuming our carpet about 7 times. I don't believe there is any carpet left at this point. I went to bed at 11:45am to be woken by Nat saying that we needed to get to the hospital. I think we were in the car and driving before I was awake. I was pretty hasty considering our neighbor didn't make it to their hospital in time and ended up delivering in the hallway at another hospital. So to avoid encountering that situation I ran all red lights and was going about 90 on the highway...good thing it was 1am in the morning. We got to the hospital around 1:38am...not to be exact or anything...where Nat was admitted. The Anesthesiologist...aka Candyman...got in about 2:20am and administered the epidural which apparently, from the screaming of Natalie, was too little to late. During her cries of agony through each contraction I felt a bit light headed and almost passed out. Nice. First time I have ever felt that and instead of headbutting the side of the bed or the floor informed the nurses who helped me sit down and recover. It's pretty embarrassing when your not doing anything with respect to giving birth and then you almost pass out. Sad. Once I recovered I was back in the game. Delivery started just a bit after 3am our new daughter pop into the world at 3:09am. Here are a few pics of her...

Just Because

Mike has been experimenting with different features he can do with his pictures. This picture he took while Sadie was playing in the sprinkler's one day. I thought it turned out really neat so I had to post it.

Fourth of July 2009!

The Fourth this year was exhausting, yet fun. We packed as much as usual into the day and I think fun was had by all. We started out with the parade bright and early. I think Sadie enjoyed every minute of it - and enjoyed the short nap she got on the way home.

After the parade and nap we had a picnic in the park. It was relaxing and the kids had fun playing games and eating good food.

Then we headed up to the Bell Tower at BYU to watch the fireworks. We had quite the wait but this is probably the most enjoyable time of the day. There is a stream with ducks and Sadie had a blast feeding them. I think she ate more bread than the ducks. Then she played in the water until it was time for pajamas and fireworks. It was an eventful day but we had a good time. The weather was perfect and it was fun to be with the whole family.

The best thing that came from the exhausting day - was Sadie's 4 hour nap the next day! Mom and Dad were so appreciative!

Waiting patiently for the parade to begin and enjoying her grapes!
It is a known fact that mom hates suckers! They are sticky and messy and the first thing anyone wants to give your child. Today I gave in and let her have one, she LOVED it! You can tell by her hair that this was after the rain that lasted about 10 minutes. I don't think I can ever recall it raining at the Freedom Festival Parade until this year.

Watching intently!

This was a shot that Mike got at the park when we were having our picnic. Isn't she cute?

When we arrived at the park she was asleep in her carseat so we let her sleep. When she woke up she was in a much better mood but her hair was silly....one side curled, the other not.

Swinging! Sadie normally hates swinging and only does the slide. Today she seemed to warm up a little to the swings.

Feeding the ducks at the Bell Tower.

Feeding the ducks with dad.

This was probably her favorite part of the day....playing in the water. Sadie loves water, even if it's FREEZING cold, it doesn't seem to phase her at all. She is just like her dad!

She even sat in it and still was having a blast. This water is freezing and I couldn't believe she was enjoying it so much.

Memorial Day!

I realize this is way late - but you know me. For Memorial Day I usually go put flowers on my Grandma and Grandpa Brereton's grave at East Lawn Cemetery and then up to my Grandpa Zobell's grave at Orem Cemetery. I usually go by myself but this year I went with my mom and Sadie. We went up the Saturday before Memorial Day. It was a beautiful day and I had no idea how entertaining it would be for Sadie. She was running everywhere and stealing stuff off of graves. She kept stealing windmills and things and I was frantically trying to put them back where they belonged. I can't say for sure that I was successful. It was a nice day to reflect on what great Grandparents I have and to remember fond memories I've had with them.

Grandpa Zobell -favorite memories of my Grandpa Zobell are his funny songs he would sing like "Rack-a-doo", and "She's Got Freckles on Her But...", snuggling with him when he came to visit - he always smelled so good! Midnight snacks when I would sleep over, going out back and picking and eating cherries, and painted rocks!
Grandma Brereton - Favorite memories of her are her soft cheeks, her jewelry, the red purse she gave me with all her Avon samples in it, and I would love it when she'd get fiesty!

Grandpa Brereton - Favorite memories of him came later when he was a widow and living at Cove Point. I would go visit him often and we would listen to his old country music. I think that may have been where I got my love for the classic country. One thing that sticks out too is that I would go get him for Sunday dinner and he wasn't a man of many words so the car ride was spent listening to the radio and sometimes he would sing. I remember he had a really nice voice and it was fun just to listen.

Sadie helped sweep off the headstone and make it look nice.

Such a good helper!

Daddy's Shoes!

These pictures were kind of fun so I had to post them. As you can see she had not been up long, she still has sleepy eyes. She found dad's shoes and decided to put them on. This is a new found obsession, she LOVES putting on mommy or daddy's shoes and then saying "goodbye" as she heads to the door. I guess with big shoes on she feels like she can just go out on her own into the world.

She looks like she needs to go back to bed!

This is what her hair looks like most mornings.....so pretty!

18 Month Stats!

Sadie is already 18 months old and mom and dad are wondering where the time went!!! She is growing so fast and learning so much it makes our heads spin. Here are her new stats....

Weight: 26.06 lbs (75 %tile)
Height: 33.75 in (96 %tile)
Head: 19.4 in (98 %tile)

So her weight has tapered off a bit but I'm crediting that to how active she is....she is ALWAYS moving. She is still tall for her age and she still has a big head! All those brains have got to be stored somewhere right?

Playing in the hose!

Our neighbor Nicki invited us over to swim in her son's new pool. Sadie loved it! She did NOT want to leave, she would have stayed all day if I let her - she loves the water! Unfortunately I didn't get very good pictures.

Easter Morning

Well, I said it would be late. Better late than never. I'm pretty sure Sadie had no idea what was going on but she enjoyed going through her Easter basket just the same. I think her favorite item was her PEZ despenser until the candy ran out and then the novelty of that ran out too. We had a fun morning watching her enjoy the goodies the Easter bunny brought her.

Going through her basket
Reading one of the books the Easter Bunny brought

"My future's so bright, I've gotta wear shades!"

Gettting ready for church.....and actually enjoying it - this is rare!!!
