Santa's Lap

We had a VERY impromptu visit with Santa today. I had a doctor's appointment in Provo and Mike met me there and took the girls to the mall instead of waiting in the Dr's office. When I was done I met them at the mall and Mike informed me that Santa was there and there was no line. So, very last minute we had the girls go meet Santa for the first time. I didn't anticipate it going well at all - especially with pictures involved. Anyone that knows my girls knows exactly what I'm talking about. But...it went better than expected and I think even Santa enjoyed their visit. It was a fun little detour from our regular boring days at home!

Sadie's 3rd Birthday!

I can't believe my little girl is 3! Time sure has flown by the last 3 years. We had such a fun party with family and I think Sadie enjoyed being the center of attention. We had a pizza party with Grandma Karen, Aunt Rachelle, Jessica, Michael, Aunt Tami, Whitney and our sitter Courtney. I think Sadie could have bypassed the pizza and gone straight to presents and cake, but she was a good sport.
She got a lot of fun presents and it was fun having everyone there to celebrate. She got a Sleeping Beauty doll and the new Tinker Bell movie, a cute outfit and pj's from Grandma, pj's and play dough from Aunt Tami, cute little dolls to take to church from Aunt Rachelle and lots of love and kisses! We had a fun night!
The birthday girl with her cake that she picked out.
I think she enjoyed her cake more than her presents this year

Opening presents

Blowing out the candles. She enjoyed this so much we had to do it twice.

Halloween!

Halloween this year didn't quite turn out like we had planned or hoped. Sadie and Carlie were sick and at the doctor that day so our trick or treating was short and sweet. I think they had their costumes on a total of 20 minutes and we were done. Poor kids. Despite being sick they sure looked cute!

I didn't get very good pictures of Carlie, she was not in the mood and still feeling yucky.

Sadie and her friend Kade. Could you find a cuter giraffe and Tinker Bell?

Happy Birthday Carlie!

Carlie turned one on July 22nd. I can't believe how fast this year has gone! We had a little family party with cake, ice cream and presents. Grandma and Aunt Rachelle, Jessica and Michael were there to celebrate with her. Although somewhat oblivious to what was going on, I think she enjoyed herself, but maybe not as much as her sister. Sadie was having a blast "helping" Carlie open her presents. It was a fun night. Happy Birthday Carlie!

Seriously.....don't you just want to squeeze her?

Carlie's 12 Month Stats!

We're back! I think I just got burned out on blogging....but I'm back...for now.

Carlie had her 12 month doctor's appointment and here are her stats!

Weight - 24.96 lbs (94%)
Length - 29.6 in (68%)
Head - 18.3 in (86%)

So from that it looks like she is chubby and short. Carlie is just starting to walk and mom and dad are anxiously awaiting more teeth. She only has 2 so far and we dread that the rest will come in all at once. She is such a happy little girl and such a bright addition to our little family. We love you Carlie!

Easter Dresses!

The girls got to wear their Easter dresses a week early this year because General Conference falls on Easter Sunday. It was fun getting them all dressed up and they both looked adorable.

Best of friends! (most of the time)

Carlie's 7 Month Stats!

Weight - 19.22 lbs (86.51%)
Length - 27 in (72.41%)
Head - 17.5 in (86.14 %)

You can see that we were a little late getting to Carlie's 6 month well check up. Her and her sister actually came down with colds about the time of her appointment so we had to postpone it. Sadie just had a bad cold but unfortunately Carlie had RSV. I didn't panic because Sadie had RSV when she was about 3 months old and other than the annoying breathing treatments you had to do every 2 hours - she pulled through and everything was fine. Well, Carlie did amazingly well. She didn't have to have breathing treatments and she pulled through quickly. In Dr. Later's words...."It's because she is such a sturdy kid!!!" HAHAHA! He is correct - sturdy is the best way to describe her. We were blessed that she recovered so quickly.

Carlie is growing up so fast, I just want time to slow down so I can enjoy every stage she enters. She is the happiest kid I know and such an easy baby. She has her quirks that throw her dad and I for a loop at times but for the most part she is the best. Her latest quirk was the fact that I couldn't get her to eat solids. At 6 months we introduced cereal to her and she HATED it. Hate wasn't even the word, she would gag just by seeing the spoon come near her mouth. I decided to try veggies....same thing. I tried fruit....same thing. I was not used to this considering Sadie ate everything. We fed her cereal through a bottle for awhile and then one day Mike decided to try it with a spoon again and she ate it! I guess she just wasn't ready. Now she LOVES her cereal, you can't shovel it in fast enough. She still isn't a fan of fruit, but she loves carrots and sweet potatoes. I'm glad she has finally started eating because I had this vision of her cute little fat rolls slowly dwindling away, and we love her rolls!

New Pictures!

Okay, again.....anyone that knows me knows that I absolutely HATE getting my kids pictures taken. It is stressful, exhausting, frustrating and expensive! But, if I don't do it I feel that guilt that I'm the worst mom ever....so we try to get their pictures taken every once in awhile.
Actually, this was Carlie's first time and I wasn't as worried about her as I was Sadie. The only thing I was worried about with Carlie is her spitting up on her dress, which she did numerous times.
The pictures below are the result of 2 trips to Kiddie Kandids. The first trip was an absolute disaster that almost resulted in mom being committed. The second trip was almost as bad, but at least we got some shots. Granted these are the ONLY shots we got but I was thankful for that. The one we got with the two of them together was nothing short of a miracle!
So, I did it, it's over and I don't have to do it again for at least another 6 months. Kiddie Kandid's will be thankful for the break too - we worked them hard!

1:00 pm Church

This year we are so blessed to have 1:00 church. I have been dreading it all year considering the fact that Sadie loves her naps and is a beast without them. Well, to my surprise she did remarkably well. She was very calm (for her) during Sacrament and she played her heart out in Nursery. After only being home about 30 minutes this is what I found.....both of them completely out for the count! So, maybe the blessing of 1:00 church is that they were both in bed asleep by 7:30! Maybe this won't be so bad after all.

Christmas Morning!

Christmas morning was really fun this year. Sadie knew something was up and her excitement was contagious! Santa was good to the girls this year as well as Grandma's and Grandpa's. Santa brought Sadie a table, tea set, doll, and doll high chair, bassinet, and stroller, plus he brought her some mega legos. But....her favorite item of the day was the electric toothbrush Santa left in her stocking!
Carlie got an animal Fisher Price toy, some fun new balls, and new things to hang from her carseat. She loves them!
It was a fun morning and we just spent the rest of the day relaxing and watching the girls play with their new things. We have been very blessed as a family this year and are so thankful!

This is the laptop that Grandpa King got Sadie

Christmas Eve PJ's

Christmas Eve we went over to Grandma B's and ate yummy food and then the girls got to open their presents from Grandma. It was a fun night! After we came home the girls got to open one present from under the tree and of course that present was their new Christmas PJ's. We had a hard time getting Sadie to cooperate for the picture so this is the only one we got!

Sadie's Horse

My dad is somewhat of a cowboy and decided that he was going to start early on making Sadie a cowgirl, so for Christmas he got her a horse and a pink pistol with a holster! It is so cute. She still doesn't know quite what to do with the gun but she loves her horse. In fact, the day after she got it she spent almost ALL day on the horse. She watched almost all of "Snow White" on it and she insisted on taking her pistol to bed with her. Hey, you never know when you'll have to defend yourself during the night!

Carlie and Sadie at 5 Months

People always ask me if Carlie looked the way Sadie did when she was a baby. I always say they do but pictures don't lie. Although they are similar in some ways, they look very different. These pictures were taken when the girls were both 5 months old. I wanted the same picture of Carlie that I have of Sadie, although Carlie was a little harder to photograph. They both have incredible blue eyes, but as you can see....Carlie definitely beats Sadie in the chubby cheeks department! We are so blessed to have 2 beautiful, healthy girls!
